Marketing When Your Out and About
Numerous marketers tell me that they are going out to market. You shouldn’t make it a point to just go out to market. You need to market your business when you are out and about your daily activities. There is a great marketing tool that you can use where ever it is that you are at any time. The use of a drop card can be very effective and a lot of fun. A drop card looks like a currency bill which has a message on one side with web address to your website or capture page. You can get drop cards in several different domination’s.
I use the $100 dollar drop card. As I said it can be fun. When you drop a drop card in a public place and walk away and watch someone’s reaction it can be quite entertaining. Watch someone step on a $100 drop card and look around to make sure nobody is looking and then quickly pick it up. I have even actually had someone in a store see me drop one and pick it up and got my attention “Excuse me sir you dropped some money.”
Some of my favorite places to use the drop card technique:
- Any type of retail store just drop it and have fun.
- Grocery carts at your local super market. Place it in the area that the child seat folds up. Make sure you do this inside store and not out in the parking lot where carts are returned. The reason being is the person that collects the carts will be the only person seeing them.
- Placing them in real-estate for sale magazines.
- If you go to buy a newspaper place them inside the other papers.
- If you see a Fed Ex drop of box throw one in the box.
- Gas station pump where you slide your credit card they fit perfectly there one you are done pumping your fuel.
- ATM machines
- Hotels in the hall and elevators.
- Restaurants leave with your credit card receipt. Make sure you leave a generous tip.
- Napkin holders at convenience stores.
- This one is my favorite. Barnes and Noble or any book store in the self help section. Just place them inside self help books for same minded people such as yourself.
These are just a few places that this technique can be used. The thing with drop cards is most people once they find them they don’t wad them up and throw them away they will just drop them. What does this do is make this offline strategy go viral. So the Fed Ex guy doesn’t see the card once he empties the drop box but where does it go? That’s right in his truck to the sorting facility. Some body is going to read your message and check it out. This is a great way to market your business everyday that is cost effective no matter where you are and you can have a lot of fun doing it.
